Fremantle Prison was built with convict labour in the 1850s and remained a prison until 1991. Its preserved cells, yards, workshops, gallows and tunnels require historical care before any spooky framing.
Central Fremantle is compact enough to walk between the prison, Round House and waterfront museums. Night access to the prison is through a booked official tour only.

Convicts quarried limestone and built the prison between 1852 and 1859. It later became Western Australia's principal prison and closed in 1991; its history includes brutal punishments, executions, escapes, riots and institutional change.
The official Torchlight Tour uses dark storytelling inside this documented setting. Its stories are an interpreted visitor experience, not evidence that paranormal events occurred.
